ABOUT THE TOUR OF ANCHORAGE

The Tour of Anchorage is a point to point cross country ski marathon that is at sea level. There are actually 4 races, a 25 k classical race, and a 25k, 40k and 50k freestyle. The 40k and 50k start on one side of Anchorage and go through the middle of town, along bike trails. The 25 k race starts in the middle of town and uses the same course. The elite skiers in the longer races will overtake the slower skiers in the shorter races. All the races finish at Kincaid Park. Transportation back to the starts will be provided.

NOTE ABOUT AGE ON APPLICATION: According to convention, the age groupings for skiing are listed as a skiers age as of December 31 in that ski season.   So if a skier has a birthday on January 11 and turns 56, his age for the race is 55.   This is done so skiers are a constant age throughout the ski season.

NOTE ABOUT REFUNDS: No refunds will be given for any reason, including race cancellation. All of the funds from the race go into the NSAA for all of their activities, including the running of the office, trail work, grooming, and a variety of other activities which benefit trail users and skiers. Putting on the race involves a lot of costs, many of which are not recovered if the race is canceled. Refunding entry fees is not done by any of the large races worldwide, nor is it done by the other major American Ski Marathon races. Given this, it is a risk for the skier, but the funds will be put to good use.
